As scientists assure, they found in the genome of Sars-CoV-2 the “imprint” of targeted genetic manipulation.
Valentin Bruttel explained that laboratories that genetically modify RNA viruses (like Sars-CoV-2) collect genetic material from individual DNA elements, and a kind of “imprints” remain near the junctions of such elements.
The scientists stressed that in artificial viruses, such “fingerprints” always appear in a certain order, while in natural viruses they are arranged in a random order. According to scientists, in the case of Sars-CoV-2, this pattern can be found, although it is not found in closely related viruses.
